フランコ・モレッティ

フランコ・モレッティ（Franco Moretti、1950年8月12日 - ）は、イタリア出身の比較文学者・文学理論研究者。

人物・来歴

ソンドリオ生まれ。1972年ローマ大学の近代文学専攻を卒業。1979年から1983年サレルノ大学で教え、1983年から1890年ヴェローナ大学教授。その後米国に移住、1990年から2000年コロンビア大学で、2000年から2016年スタンフォード大学で教え、2000年同大学に小説研究所を設立した。以後は各大学で客員教授を務め、ローザンヌにデジタル人文学研究所を創設。

当初は英文学者で、ヘーゲルの歴史哲学に基づき、時代の精神と文学作品の関係を論じ、カール・ポパーに学んで文学研究を自然科学化しようとした。のち、「精読」に代わる「遠読」（幅広く文学作品の概要を知ること）を提唱したり、デジタル的文学研究を唱えている。
